I remember these! We were going to use one (or two) at my (very large) BJJ gym, so that mat one could have a display that we could update from mat three. The gym is over 9000 square feet, so getting information from one mat to the other, especially in real time, is a bit of a logistical challenge, and I was keen to have software written to solve this challenge.
It was just an idea and didn't go anywhere, but we explored getting a few Pis for this.
My son loves his Raspberry Pis! It's amazing what those little do-dads can do.
