Something inside my mind insists on staying awake. Maybe I'm supposed to prevent a terrorist attack if I'm on a plane or train, but whatever it is, I feel obligated to be one of the few paying attention.
If I'm a passenger in a car, I'm talking to the driver or sharing an audiobook with them, most likely.
I think a lot of this comes down to how we each grew up. I feel a very strong difference with my partner in that she had a brother, but was an only child for her first few years... but her family was different from mine, and a lot of our different approaches to life can be traced back to our youth. I imagine that has a lot to do with this weird trait I have.
