... It did not look like this in my head ... It rarely does, but does it matter, if it's beautiful nonetheless?

What a lovely observation, Portia. :)

I think that such a perspective can allow an artist to bypass the trap of perfectionism and enter the realm of creative participation (even though I imagine that the drive towards some kind of "more accurate" accomplishment is also valuable to an artist over time, as a way to propel them to broader skill sets).

Going to keep this observation in mind today. Beautiful is *beautiful,* wherever and however we find it. :) Thank you for bringing this idea upwards.

Thank you, LL, and I agree that the drive to become more accomplished in his/her craft is essential to an artist. Striving for perfection is commendable, but "a thing of beauty is a joy for ever", even with all its perceived imperfections.

Fun. I love that you even used a form of the word "expectation" in your piece! You and Sadbook really are on the same page today. :)

"The moment the music left my head and entered the shared space of our rehearsal, it morphed into something else. This was an expected part of the process, as each bandmate added their personal touch to the song, reshaping it with their individual experiences, influences, and skills… and just as often, our technical limitations meant a song needed to pivot in a certain direction.

While this process was sometimes frustrating—I initially wanted the song to sound exactly as it did in my head—it became another form of 'Ready! Fire! Aim!' As I embraced the unpredictability of the creative process, the music took on a life of its own, shaped not just by my vision, but by the collective energies and inspirations of the band… "

Thanks, LL! I thought you would appreciate that. Too big of a coincidence not to call out today.
