Congrats! Fun fact: at age 14, I began wrestling, something I still do today in a way (jiu jitsu encompasses a ton of wrestling). I had also been playing D&D for a couple years by then, and I liked comic books more than almost anything else in the world.
TL;DR: I was certainly heavily into Marvel anti-heroes like Wolverine and the Punisher, but not so much the all-powerful ones, but that constantly evolved.
Jiu jitsu has been a really big part of my life for 30 years now.
I haven't seen much of Wolverine outside of the X-Men movies (which were great) but I did love Batman (comics & animated) & Superman (Reeve movies, Lois & Clark) & the DCAU!
I agree with your thoughts about heroes too... not only do real people fall short of an ideal, it's also unfair to those people, I think—if they're admired so much they need to be perfect in everything (and then of course aren't) people who admired them can turn around & be really vicious about it.

Oh, fun! There really is a lot of wrestling in jiu jitsu. It's very cool to watch! I've done a (very small) bit of tawkwondo but nothing like that
what kind of comic books did you like to read?
Funny you should ask, I fairly recently wrote about this: https://goatfury.substack.com/p/my-heroes

Exactly. Life on a pedestal (EG, Sadbook) is tough!
