Yep. Our emotions are tied closely to our "higher" minds, and there's a good reason why I can listen to music written by people a third of my age (like literally some of the best music ever made was made by people aged 15-21 or so). I think the visceral appeal of imagery is like that - it finds the right emotional appeal and makes its case through the back door, so to speak.
1. Goats are very closely related to sheep, so this one hits close to home on so many levels
